Matt Crossley studied horn at the Royal Northern Colllege of Music and Huddersfield University before embarking on a career as a freelance French Horn player. He has enjoyed playing in a variety of genres from big symphony orchestras such as Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC National Orchestra of Wales to touring Musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, Scrooge and Jekyll and Hyde. He has worked with ballet and opera companies including Scottish Ballet, Operabox and Opus1 Opera where he was principal Horn for 3 years. Recent commercial work has included playing in orchestras accompanying Bryn Tefel, Katherine Jenkins and Aled Jones. He also enjoys solo and chamber repertoire and has performed Serenade for Tenor, Horn and String by Britten and Bach Brandenburg concerto No.1 with Skipton Camerata as a soloist. A long standing principal with Skipton Camerata , Matt’s first memory of the orchestra is playing Cosi Fan Tutte in a cattle shed complete with a set primarily made of straw bales.
