Benjamin Griffiths began his musical life learning through Stockport Music Service, first on Violin then later Flute. Progressing through their ensembles from beginner through to Stockport’s Youth Orchestra, he then continued his studies with a degree at King’s College, London. Here, he specialised in performance, having lessons at the Royal Academy with Claire Southworth.
He entered the Royal Northern College of Music, for a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance, on an entrance award. Studying with Peter Lloyd, Ander Ljungar-Chapelon and Joanne Boddington, he completed the course with Distinction.
Since, he has free lanced and taught across the country as well as running outreach programs and flute workshops. Alongside Orchestral and Chamber Orchestra work, he has appears as a soloist, most recently premiering the new flute concerto by composer Evan Jolly. As a session musician he has played for several national and international advertising campaigns, and features on an up-coming film release. He also occasionally moonlights as a recorder and ocarina player(!).
