Children of the Revolution
Friday 14th July 7.30pm @ Town Hall, Skipton
Sebastian Mueller violin
Skipton Building Society Camerata
Ben Crick conductor
No composer ever deserved the title Revolutionary more than Ludwig van Beethoven; he invented the song cycle, transformed the string quartet from background music to works of soul searching intimacy, concertos from virtuosic fireworks to true expressions of individuality and the symphony from an entertainment at aristocratic soirees to a vast all encompassing form that captures the zeitgeist of the early 19th century like no other artistic endeavour.
For this concert Camerata's leader, the German violinist Sebastian Mueller, will perform Beethoven's towering violin concerto before a second half of Beethoven's epoch making 3rd symphony, the 'Eroica'.
5:30pm Open rehearsal with Sebastian Mueller
As part of our New Angles programme, ticket holders are invited to a free 30-minute open rehearsal before the concert where conductor Ben Crick and soloist Sebastian Mueller talk through the process of working on a section of the violin concerto.
