A concert of high drama, bold gesture and sparkling colours: Paul Mealor shot to fame when his motet Ubi Caritas was heard by a broadcast audience of 2.5 billion people at the wedding of the The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. We perform Mealor's brilliant musical drama The Farthest Shore, a retelling of a Celtic tale from the mystic island of Anglesey, spiritual home to the last of the Druids and the Avalon of Arthurian legend. A mysterious child washes ashore during a fearsome storm; disease hits the village and we must decide if the child is the agent of death and destruction, or a healing angel. Mealor fuses oratorio and opera in this brilliant work - not to be missed!
After this intensity, the concert ends with John Rutter's effervescent Gloria. Scored for chorus, brass ensemble and organ, it's guaranteed to send you away with a spring in your step.
