'I owe very, very much to Mozart; and if one studies, for instance, the way in which I write for strings, then one cannot deny that I have learned this directly from Mozart. And I am proud of it!'

- Arnold Schoenberg

This year's visit to the Grassington Festival features a programme of music from late 18th and early 20th century Vienna.

6:30pm Pre-concert talk with Ben Crick

As part of our New Angles project ticket holders are invited to a pre concert in which conductor Ben Crick discusses how Verklärte Nacht musically conveys the narrative of Richard Dehmel's poem of the same name on which Schoenberg based his composition.
